Two Months Old!

 Sammy is two months old today.

Bumbo

Lauren got Sam this Bumbo as a gift when he was born, and we just assumed it would be a long time before he could use it. But I read today that it's okay to use as soon as the baby can hold his head up, which Sam's been doing like a champ for weeks now, so I decided to try it out. Sam looked absolutely amazed. He's never sat in that position before, at least not without a pair of hands under his armpits. He stayed in it for nearly half an hour, doing a great job of holding his head up!

I'm loving having another place to put Sam down so I can actually have two hands free, and this should be perfect for those times when his reflux is bothering him too much to lay on his mat or recline in his swing. I just hope he continues to like it!

OB's Advice

I went to my OB earlier this week, and the office manager (who's also her husband) said to me, "Do you want to know my number one piece of baby advice?" I figured being a father and the husband of an OB he'd know something about babies, so I said sure. "Never take a picture of them laying down." He's very right -- Sam also looks slightly distorted when we take pictures of him lying down (a friend who met him for the first time recently said, "He looks much cuter in person!" and I agree) -- so from now on I'll attempt to take more sitting up / propped up pictures.

Two-Month Shots

Sam had his two-month checkup today. He is now 9 lbs, 13.2 oz and other than his reflux doing very well! He got four vaccines and was a real trouper -- he barely cried (I've heard worse cries when he has stomach cramps) and calmed down almost immediately after. As expected, the shots have knocked him out -- he's been passed out in his swing for a while.

Taking a Snooze

Sam gets comfy for a nap in his car seat... at least, I assume he's comfy because he always squirms around until he gets to this position. Sure doesn't look so comfy to me!

Snowy Day

It's a snowy, gross day, but Mommy doesn't want to be stuck in the house, so we test out Sam's bassinet rain cover.

Spring?

New Swing

We got a Fisher Price Rainforest swing for free from our downstairs neighbors whose two-year-old daughter had outgrown it. We figured we might as well take it and add it to the collection of places to put Sam down in the hopes he'll sleep, or at least stay calm and occupied long enough for us to do the simple things like go to the bathroom or make lunch. He stayed relatively calm in his first try today; we'll see how he does tomorrow!

Worn Out

Sam was having some stomach cramps Tuesday night. He finally relaxed on Daddy's shoulder. Between his sweater and his expression, he really looks like a little old man!

Walk Along the Charles

It was nice and sunny on Tuesday, so Sam and I went for a long walk along the Charles. He was even awake for 3/4 of it!
