Holy Cow - Six Months Old!

Sam is six months old today!

Sam Eats Peppers

As I think I mentioned before, we've been slowly introducing Sam to table food.  He sits at his high chair while we eat dinner and munches on some of what we're eating.  Yesterday was his first taste of red peppers, and he loved them!

After Sam recovered from the sprinklers, we hung out outside and Sam explored grass for the first time.  Amazingly, he didn't try to eat it!

North Point Park, a new and very nice playground/park near our house, has sprinklers on during the summer so people can cool down on hot days.  On Saturday, Brian decided to see whether Sam would enjoy a splash.


He started off okay...

But then tried to hide from the water...

and he held on to Daddy for dear life.

Not such a fan.  Maybe we'll try again next summer!

California Sunday: Table Food

Along with his pureed peas, squash, and sweet potatoes, we have started to introduce Sam to real food. He loves grabbing his veggies and sticking them in his mouth, though we're actually not sure whether he realizes they're edible! (He did the same with Kimmy's chapstick, Mommy's water bottle, and anything carelessly left within his reach.) Here he is trying lettuce for the first time.

Grandma Ernestine was thrilled to meet Sam (her second great-grandson) and showed him off to everyone in her complex.

Sam's Trip to California

Brian, Sam, and I flew to California on Wednesday for a visit with Nana and Papa and Reid's wedding. I'll post the photos in a few posts so that this one doesn't get too long. Sam did great on the plane (especially coming home, when he was as happy as I've ever seen him!) and adjusted to the time change without too much trouble. He met lots of new people (and Teddy the dog) and had lots of very happy moments.

(On a side note, we apologize for the lack of Monday cow chair pictures. We forgot last week and were gone this week. Plus, even I don't remember how many weeks old Sam is anymore. We may go to a monthly photo, but don't worry, we'll still make sure to post a few photos each week!)

When Sam became able to push off the table with his feet and move his entire Bumbo, we decided it was time to set up the high chair.  He seemed pretty happy in it, and he loves his peas!
